POWER TOP 100

“There is no knowledge that is not power.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

There is no such thing as an easy or simple solution to getting control of your time. It is an ongoing struggle that takes commitment, dedication, and a lot of work. We have compiled this list as a starting point in your journey for better management of your time leading to you getting more out of each day.

The way to best utilize this list is to read through the points, (they are in no particular order) and start to formalize in your own mind, what makes sense to you and what steps you can immediately use to make your day more productive. Read it through once without attempting to make notes or lists or to put them in any order, you want to get a feeling or a flavour for what we are saying. It is important for you and us to feel we are on the same page and we both have a good feeling about what we will be trying to accomplish together.

This Power Top 100 list can form part of your day-to-day attack on getting on track with your goal to become organized, be more productive, and gain the maximum benefit out of each day. If this list, to start, does nothing more than get you thinking and ponder time, how it affects your life, and new steps you can take to take back your control of your own time, this list will have served its purpose.

  1. Your Time Management Style

How do you operate? How do you organize your day? Are you in fact organized? These questions and others like them are ones you should ask yourself and address. The Power Time System has a definite approach to Time Management. Many people have been through our System and have done very well with it. Some people have not. It is important that your style, or lack of one, meshes with ours. You will be working with us over a period of time. This time you spend working with us and our System is valuable personal time, as all time is. You want to make the most of this time and the best way to do this is to be in harmony with how we are approaching time management. We will, in effect, be managing your time for a while and you will reap the most rewards if you feel comfortable working with us and feel comfortable with our style.
  2. Hold Regular Meetings

Hold Regular Meetings with yourself is the full concept we want to offer here. It sounds funny but you should hold a meeting with yourself on a daily basis. It is a time when you go through the day and look at what you did, did not do and what you could have done differently to get better results. This is done without the computer on, without taking notes; it's informal, all done in your head. This is one time where we suggest you get it off the page and back in your head. I usually do it in the car on the way home or when I'm watching TV. Or out for a walk or working out or when I'm doing a task that does not require a lot of brainpower. As you can see, it can be done pretty well anytime.

The main focus of my meetings with myself is to question how effective I was in controlling my day. I compare what I wanted to get done and what I did, in fact, get done. I'm at the point where I know what I should have gotten done and I clearly know that, within a small range of being right or wrong, what my top A priorities are. Knowing if I was on target or not each day is a fairly easy task. This is not a beat yourself up session, but you should hold yourself to task, sometimes. Other times, when you did well in a day, saying so is not a bad way to go. You want to accomplish something in these meetings. What went well, why it went well and repeat the reason it well. The same goes in reverse. Why did you not accomplish your goals that day? What were the reasons and what will we do to not repeat the same mistakes. These meetings are as short or as long as you want or need. I find I have several short ones through out the day. They're helpful and aid in keeping your eye on the ball.
